Saturday, January 6, 2007 Meeting Minutes: This month our meeting was held at the Lizard Thicket in Irmo to accommodate some of our members who live in that area of Columbia. Ron Abrams was kind enough to make the arrangements. Our meeting began at 10:15 with our President George Gooch presiding. We had 19 in attendance. Thank you to LeMont and Jill Long for their hospitality for the wonderful Christmas Party held December 2, 2006. A great time was had by all who attended. Gifts were donated by Extreme Power Sports in Sumter, and various members. Thanks again for a wonderful Christmas party. The bulk order for patches was the next order of business. We discussed the order and got together a number to send to National for our large and small patches. There is also a new Gremlin being offered by Star for $10.00. They can be ordered through Star Touring and Riding. Please note: Star has asked that all future orders for patches of any kind be done through the chapter president or a designated representative. Our next meeting will be held at the Southern Pig in Blythewood, Saturday, February 3, 2007, starting at 10:00 am., with our ride following the meeting. Please join us for the fun of the ride. We discussed the issue of notifying members of upcoming meetings and rides. Using the webpage vs mailing postcards each month. Please check the webpage for upcoming events and notices. And feel free to use the website, it was created for our use. An issue regarding the use of the word “Starriders” on our logos and website. Because of this national issue we have changed the logo to read, “Blythewood Star Chapter 384”. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to contact our President. We would like to schedule our future rides for the year and are in need of ride leaders. Please contact Fred Garren (Ride coordinator) if you would be willing to volunteer for a month in the year. We currently have scheduled rides for April (Savannah, overnight), May (Shenandoah Valley), July (Star Days, Chattanooga, TN), and October (mountains). The ride does not need to be long or far from home, sometimes riding less than 30 miles from home is more fun for all. Our Charities coordinator, Judy Frick, reported that our Chapter sent it’s first donation ($200.00) to Feed the Children in December. Thank you for your support of our charities. Our next goal is to send a child to Camp Kemo this summer ($500.) Help us support this very deserving charity. Also, just a reminder that the Childrens Hospital at Richland is always in need of small toys, books, gifts for the children who are in the hospital for their cancer. Please contact Judy Frick if you have any questions about what they need. Last but certainly not least our 50/50. Our winner, Betty Garren gave half of her half to the charity bank. Congratulations and thank you for your contribution. Respectfully submitted, Betsy Gooch, secretary Blythewood Star Chapter 384
