September 23, 2006 Chapter 384 Signing

Mark W Davis
(Reporting)

Sat, Sept. 23, 2006

The day has finally arrived ... Chapter Signing for our Blythewood Starriders Chapter 384. I arrived early at the Southern Pig in Blythewood, SC... just dismounted when George and Betsy Gooch arrived. We were the first motorcycle riders to show up but definitely not the last. We were greeted by the friendly staff and sat down for a few minutes of calm before the others arrived. Today was the day that our Chapter became official and we had friends, family, and guests yet to come.

In very short order ... the parking lot began to fill and our friends joined us for this special day. Al Baker, the regional director, and Pat, his wife,  arrived as did Earl Preston, the state director, and Phyllis his wife. The meeting was called to order and the official proceedings began.

All listened in as the formal Star Riding and Touring material was presented. This was followed by the official charter signing and welcoming of new members to the Blythewood Starriders Chapter 384 family.

Once it was official ... it was time to Ride! ... A group of thirty plus joined us for our ride to Sumter, SC where we were greeted by our supporting sponsor Extreme Sports Yamaha. Welcoming our new chapter with a running announcement on there sign.

But that was just the beginning of an afternoon filled with fun. As a token of our appreciation to our supporting sponsor, George Gooch presented Dick Davis with a hand made clock with the pyrographic design of the Chapter 384 logo on the face.

Extreme Sports welcomed the riders in with open arms and made us feel like family from the very first step inside. With grilled food, a non stop drawing for prizes, and a great selection of parts and accessories ... who could ask for a better destination or better friends.

A good time was had by all. Time well spent with friends old and new. Till next time. Ride Safe ... Ride Often ...
